??Where did you mount J&S knock sensor??

I am getting bad retarding at 6500-8000 with the J&S sensor mounted where Rafe suggested(near the oil separator, in the bracket for the cat). I think this might be causing unnecessary retarding due to vibration or other noise. Where did everyone else put it? I know J&S suggest one place, and Larry has his own place as well( http://www.theoldone.com/sc/type-r/manifold.jpg ). Pictures would be great, or really good descriptions. Thanks. I had thought it was oil sucking in, so i did a catch can, but it didnt help.

That's where I have mine at the oil separator box.. Try adjusting the sensativity down to around 10 o'clock. You can also remove the TPS sensor at the harness, then adjust it, then re-attach the TPS sensor at the harness.

Does it retard anywhere else? What gears? If you retard on long 4th gear runs, it's most likely NOT engine noise, but real detionaion. If it's in 1st gear or 2nd, it may be noise.

As a test try removing the "L" shaped exhaust support bracket and reinstalling the knock sensor.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

I'm not getting detonation on long 4th gear runs or pulling from 10mph in 3rd gear (highload, high gear pull) or many of the other typical ways to get detonation. It retards when I downshift and match revs, and a lot of the time there is no pattern. I will try that Rafe later today, and see what happens. I have a feeling the bracket is rattling.

So no one has mounted like the company says to or like Larry says to??

i wired mine using the stock KS. soemone from endyne told me they do some of their cars like that. seems to work fine with sensitivity at around 11 o'clock...
